Register today for a fun day of activities for girls on CPS’ day of non-attendance

The Chicago Park District is excited to host “Girls Day of Play,” on Friday, February 3, 2023. When school is out, the parks are in! Girls, ages 6 to 15 years old, are invited to participate and gain access to a variety of sports, recreational games, and physical and educational activities during the all-day, free series. Most participating parks starting programming at 9 a.m. These events are being held at park locations citywide.

The Chicago Park District Girls Play Initiative works to expand opportunities for girls in sports and ensure that young women have equal access to recreational offerings in their communities. Through programming, special events, and camps we focus on providing opportunities for girls to create life-long healthy physical activity habits.

Girls Day of Play activities will range by location from traditional sports like basketball, volleyball and soccer to more popular activities that include gymnastics, cheerleading, tumbling, yoga, dance and ballet. Rounding out the list of activities being offered at some locations include swimming, floor hockey, tennis, archery, and more.

Highlights include:

•    Archer Park, 4901 S. Kilbourn Ave., will offer E-Gaming sessions.
•    Carver Park, 939 E. 132nd St., will host a boxing clinic.

•    Olympia Park, 6566 N. Avondale Ave., will host a 3 on 3 basketball tournament from 3 pm to 7 pm.
