Public meeting to be held January 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at South Shore Cultural Center

As part of its ongoing South Lakefront Framework Plan process with the community that began in June, the Chicago Park District announced today that it will host the next community meeting at South Shore Cultural Center, located at 7059 S. South Shore Dr., on January 31 from 6-8 p.m. This meeting will present updates to the proposed golf course plans for Jackson and South Shore Parks based on community feedback and will solicit additional public comment on the updated plans.

“During the planning and designing process, feedback from stakeholders has been essential in helping shape each aspect of the project and ensuring the development of a sustainable framework plan, and we look forward to receiving additional input from the community on the revised golf plans for Jackson and South Shore Parks,” said Chicago Park District CEO & Superintendent Michael P. Kelly.

In June of 2017, Tiger Woods’ TGR Design introduced a conceptual routing to combine the Chicago Park District’s Jackson Park (18 hole) and South Shore (9 hole) golf courses, featuring an 18 hole layout and new 6 hole short course to attract increased junior and family play. During the public meeting on January 31, Beau Welling, Senior Design Consultant for TGR Design, will present an updated golf routing which incorporates community feedback received during the South Lakefront Framework Plan process while maintaining Tiger Woods’ philosophy of playability for golfers of all skill levels.

The meeting will be held in an open house format that will include a brief presentation scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m.
